Why we love Mallory
Every evening since the 1960s, Key West gathers on the Mallory Square waterfront to applaud the sunset with street performers, food carts and a crowd of cheerful strangers.
The Sunset Celebration begins about two hours before the sun touches the Gulf. Tightrope walkers, cat trainers, fire jugglers and bagpipers set up along the brick pier while schooners and catamarans glide past Sunset Key.
Arrive 45 minutes early for a spot on the water's edge, then stroll into the nearby Truman Waterfront or the historic seaport for dinner. The Key West Aquarium and the Shipwreck Museum are both steps away if you arrive earlier in the afternoon.
